Lubbock-Con Community Events Cosplay Volunteers

CosPoints are back!!

Lubbock-Con is bringing back the program to reward cosplayers for doing what they love, COSPLAYING!!

We want to give back to our amazing cosplaying community by giving you a chance to show off your amazing costumes and handy work, all while earning some awesome rewards.

Every time Lubbock-Con is going to be present at a community event, and if cosplayers are needed for that event, we will do a call out and sign-ups will be available for each specific event. Each event has its own requirements, so be sure to read the information thoroughly before applying. You are welcome to sign up for as many events as you are able to attend so you can earn as many CosPoints as you can!

Here’s how it works:

  1. FOLLOW our social media to see our “Cosplay Volunteer Callouts” for any community event that Lubbock-Con will be present at. Or keep checking this page for updates.

  2. READ the event requirements to see if your cosplay is elidable to participate in an event. Please be advised that some events request specific characters or genre of characters. So not every cosplay is eligible to volunteer for certain events.

  3. SIGN UP! When you sign up, include the amount of hours you are looking to volunteer for that event. Event hours will be posted on the sign-up forms. All sign ups are on the “first come first serve” basis and eligibility.

  4. SHOW UP! If you are approved to volunteer at the event, show up for the amount of hours you volunteered for. Lubbock-Con staff will keep track of the hours you are present at each event.

  5. EARN COSPOINTS! One full volunteered hour is equal to one CosPoint. Only full hours will be recorded for the CosPoint system. Your points will accumulate throughout the Cosplay Volunteer Year leading up to the big Lubbock-Con event at the end of February 2027.

ONE VOLUNTEERED HOUR = ONE COSPOINT

  6. TRADE IN your CosPoints for rewards. Use all your CosPoints for one specific reward, or divide up your CosPoints to claim several smaller rewards.

    • 10 CosPoints - Past Lubbock-Con T-shirt of your choice. (while supplies last)

    • 15 CosPoints*- Cosplayer Social media promotional post (restrictions apply)

    • 20 CosPoints - One Lubbock-Con Sunday Pass

    • 25 CosPoints* - One Lubbock-Con Saturday Pass

    • 35 CosPoints* - One Lubbock-Con Weekend Pass

    • 45 CosPoints* - One Lubbock-Con Weekend Pass + Past Lubbock-Con T-shirt of your choice. (while supplies last)

    • 60 CosPoints* - Two Lubbock-Con Weekend Passes + Past Lubbock-Con T-shirt of your choice. (while supplies last) + Cosplayer Social media promotional post (restrictions apply).

*Please be advised that the reward points system totals can change as the year progresses depending on the availability of events to allow cosplayer to fairly reach goals.

More rewards to be added in the future.

  7. START OVER All hours and CosPoints will reset back to zero after the big Lubbock-Con February event. Restarting a new Cosplay Volunteer year.

Lubbock-Con Cosplay Volunteer Guidelines and Procedures

The following is a list of guidelines and procedures that we want every cosplay volunteer to be aware of if you are to take part in any Lubbock-Con community event. We want to ensure that every Lubbock-Con event is a safe and enjoyable experience for not only our staff and you, the volunteer, but also the public who we will be interacting with. Which most of the time will include children and people with special needs.

Understand that some events request specific characters or genre of characters, so be sure to be well informed of each event you are signing up for. As we will deny any cosplay that does not fit the request if needed. As much information will be given about each event as is possible before you are able to sign up.

Please read all the following guidelines thoroughly, as it is the responsibility of the applying volunteer to be informed of any and all rules before signing up. Lubbock-Con Staff hold the right to ask you to leave at any moment without a warning, if we find that you are acting inappropriately or if the host location asks us to do so.

  1. Volunteers MUST be 18 years or older on the day of submitting the application. No exceptions.

  2. DO NOT break any laws or rules that a location has in place. Warnings will be given for unknown rules. But not for breaking the law.

  3. DO NOT come under the influence of any substance, legal or not. This includes over-the-counter or prescription medications that could impair your judgment. If you are feeling sick and must take medication, please stay home.

  4. Please act kind, courteous, and professional while you are volunteering at the event. You are representing Lubbock-Con at these events.

  5. Acting inappropriately will result in Lubbock-Con staff asking you to leave the event. Inappropriate actions include, but are not limited to: fowl language, lewd acts, obscene gestures, obscene imagery on clothing or on any physical medium, etc. (We understand cosplay also includes acting “in character” and  some characters may act in certain ways, but use your best judgment. Exceptions can be made on a case by case scenario and depending on the event type. ALWAYS ask first.)

  6. You are responsible for your cosplay and/or props during the time you are present at the event. Even if you ask a Lubbock-Con volunteer to look after your items. Lubbock-Con, or the hosting location, is not responsible for items that are lost, damaged or stolen.

  7. Please make sure your cosplay is appropriate for the event and the weather. Wearing a jacket or covering over your cosplay or constantly taking off your cosplay because of the elements, defeats the purpose of your presence as a cosplay volunteer.

  8. If you need help getting into your cosplay at the event, be sure to bring a handler with you. Lubbock-Con staff can assist you, but we can not guarantee a gender specific volunteer will be available to assist for dressing. We will have Volunteer handlers during the event that can assist.

  9. You are responsible for transportation to and from the event location.

  10. Be prepared to bring your own water or snacks if needed. In some cases, Lubbock-Con will provide water and/or snacks.

  11. Do your best to arrive early if you need to get dressed at the event. As your time does not start until you are present at the designated cosplayer area.
