Anti-Harassment

Lubbock-con is to be a safe zone. This means that it is a safe environment for fans from any ethnicity, creed, religious background, political background, gender, gender identity, sexual identity, sexual orientation, fandom, etc. We will not tolerate harassment in any form. This includes, but is not limited to: physical assault, verbal harassment, sexual harassment, stalking, unwanted physical contact, unwanted advances, or inappropriate media capture. ( media capture is defined as photography, video recording, audio recording, or any other form of recording) Lubbock Con Security will determine if the media capture is inappropriate.  The determination will be made on a case by case matter and will be the final decision in the matter.  People are allowed to document the convention through media capture as long as it is done in a manner within the guidelines of these codes of conduct.

Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

“No” means no.  “Stop” means stop.  “Go away” means go away.

If it is determined by Lubbock Con Security and/or Management that an individual or group has harassed another attendee, the following process will occur –

That individual or group will be escorted out of Lubbock Con;

The incident will be referred to local law enforcement;

The individual or group may be banned from future convention events for a period of time as determined by Lubbock Con Management.

To report harassment please find the nearest Lubbock-Con volunteer or security personnel. They will direct you to an information desk or security center. If you feel your safety or the safety of others is in jeopardy please contact the Lubbock Police Department at 911 if an emergency. The Lubbock Police Department non-emergency number is (806) 775-2865.

For your own safety, if you feel that you are being harassed in a non-emergency situation please report your problems to us before anyone else. If you cannot find a staff, crew, or volunteer member to assist you, please go to the information desks located near registration or just inside the entrance of the exhibition floor. Please report to us before taking matters into your own hands (such as personally confronting the aggressor or posting on social media).

Costuming/Clothing

Lubbock-Con is a family-friendly event and as such there is an expectation of an appropriate level of dress, including those in costume. Costumes or clothing must not be overly revealing, must not be overtly sexual or include inappropriate printed language or other elements that would otherwise contravene the Code of Conduct.  If clothes or costumes are deemed unacceptably revealing or otherwise inappropriate, an attendee must change clothes or modify a costume so that it is deemed acceptable by staff.

Lubbock-Con reserves the right to ask any attendee to remove any costuming face covering, mask or headwear if necessary for the purposes of identification. Exceptions will be made for headwear or other clothing of a religious nature. Failure to comply with this will result in removal from the event.

Remember, naked is not a costume.

DISCLAIMER:  Lubbock Con can’t determine the legality of a weapon, rather, Lubbock Con will be making a safety determination based on the allowance of any particular weapon or prop.  Because local law enforcement will be present, any weapons check could result in criminal charges if the weapon is determined to be illegal by local law enforcement.  Basically use best judgement and common sense and always ask a Lubbock-Con staff member for clarification.
